Ward 4 platform
FOR A WATERLOO YOU CAN AFFORD.
Lower Taxes, Better Roads, Fairer Fees, Responsible Spending – That’s the plan!
Lower PROPERTY Taxes
Let’s spend smarter. Waterloo can do much better.
Our property-tax increase adds up to about 27% over four years. The property tax has increased more than twice the average inflation rate in Canada. At the same time families trying to make ends meet.
Before asking residents to pay more, I will push for a closer look at spending, find efficiencies and focus on the services residents need most.
Fix Roads & Potholes
Safer roads. Better streets for our families.
Deferred maintenance isn’t a saving — it’s a bigger bill later, paid by the same taxpayers.
The City’s data shows a $25.2 million annual funding gap for transportation infrastructure. Without changes, transportation assets are projected to decline from “Fair” to “Very Poor” within 25 years.
I will push for a stronger focus on road maintenance, potholes and infrastructure renewal.
Cut Fees & Penalties
Government should serve, not penalize.
Property Taxes are going up and fees and penalties are also increasing, we need to ask whether we’re going in the right direction. I’m surprised no one asked this question before approving increases every year.
I will work to reduce unnecessary fees and penalties and make sure more of your hard-earned money stays where it belongs — with you and your family.
Let’s make Waterloo a business and resident friendly city.
Responsible Spending
Spend wisely. Put more money in your pocket.
The City identifies a $64.7 million annual funding gap across its assets. It seems like the focus in on raising property taxes to bridge this gap.
We must make a change now so the plans are reviewed with a fresh set of eyes – other wise Waterloo residents will keep paying more every year. We need better priorities, better planning and accountability for how your money is spent.
Put a sign on your lawn
A lawn sign is how a street tells itself it’s ready for something different. Free, delivered and installed by our team — and we come back for it after October 26.
Give us a few hours
Knock doors, drop flyers, make calls, or drive someone to the polls on the 26th. Tell us what you can spare and we’ll find the right job for it.
