My priorities for Ward 4
Four things I'll fight for at council
Waterloo keeps getting more expensive, but the basics aren’t getting better. I’m running in Ward 4 to keep property taxes in check, fix the roads we already pay for, cut fees and penalties, and challenge spending that puts more pressure on residents.
Every decision should answer one simple question: does it make life in Waterloo better and more affordable—or not?
LOWER PROPERTY TAXES
27% increase in property-tax over four years is more than twice the average inflation rate. Families and our seniors cannot afford the city they built.
Fix Roads & Potholes
Safer roads. Better streets for our families. Basic maintenance shouldn't be the line council keeps deferring.
Cut Fees & Penalties
Government should serve, not penalize. Permits, parking and program fees add up — and they hit the people who can least afford them.
Responsible Spending
Spend wisely. Put more money in your pocket. We must make a change now so the plans are reviewed with a fresh set of eyes.
Results. Not politics.
Together, vote for change.

For a Waterloo you can afford
Hi, I’m Syed
I’m a Waterloo neighbour, just like you.
I’ve spent decades in professional leadership and had the opportunity to travel around the world. Those experiences have shown me what makes a city a great place to live — and I believe Waterloo can become one of the most livable cities in the world.
I love hiking, hockey and, most of all, spending time with neighbours, friends and family. I enjoy simple conversations, meeting people and learning from them.
When I see something in our community that can be better, I don’t like watching from the sidelines. I get involved and try to find a practical solution.
That’s why I’m running for City Council — to listen, get involved and be a strong voice for Ward 4.
